Home & More

We’re home safe and sound. Getting off the ship was interesting. We knew it would be no fun. And when Florida greeted us with a good old fashioned downpour, it got a little crazy. Benn got in line for a porter — remember everyone had tons of luggage and all of us would need a porter. I started hunting for our 8 bags. Once I found all the bags, Benn was nowhere near the front of the porter line. Don’t tell anyone but I found a porter and told him I was ready and he said “Let’s go”. Other porters were waiting around for people to find bags. Customs & Immigration was a breeze. We dropped the bags off with FedEx and we were on our way to get the rental car.

Four hours later we were home. Thanks to Alan & Monica for watching out for our house. Our TV/internet cable was cut during some yard work while we were gone. I arranged to get it fixed and A & M even checked to make sure it was working. Thanks again! Also thanks to Jennifer for getting the mail. It arrived on Friday. FedEx delivered the luggage Friday morning. Now we just need to unpack it all!

Friday we went to visit the new motorhome. I was delivered to the dealer last week. We take delivery May 28. Can’t wait!

No name yet. I could be wrong. It may be a girl. We’ll see.

2016 Trip Preperations Part 2

Time to get back to work on Silver Girl.  We have to put the kitchen back together.  Started the day with nothing but the cabinets.

New equipment installed

We spent this week in Naples, FL having some new equipment installed.  We got 2 additional solar panels to bring our total to 720 watts, a new 3000 watt inverter, and new lithium batteries.  I don’t understand all this stuff (Benn does).  I just want to know that I’ll have all the power I want when I want it!  And Benn tells me I will.  I do know that the new batteries are smaller and there’s now room for shoe storage under the couch!

Trip Preparation – Part 3

We have cabinets – upper and lower – on both sides of our bed.  The uppers have a rod for hanging clothes.  The lowers were empty.  We use them for our dirty clothes hampers.  Today Benn built a shelf for each lower cabinet.

I know to some of you this doesn’t look like much but to me they’re wonderful.  Every time I would take the hampers out of the cabinet, I’d pull the door off its hinges —  and swear!  And swear and swear!  I can’t seem to get the door back on by myself.  Raising the hamper up above hinge makes them come out easily – even for me – and the shoe storage is great, too.  Thanks Benn!

Trip Preperation

We leave on our “Right Turn” trip at the end of April.  More about the name and where we’re planning to travel later.  A 7 month trip takes some planning and preparation.  What to do with the mail?  How to pay bills?  What should we take?  More important, what should we leave at home?  And of course, where should we go?

Today we worked on what needs to be done to Silver Girl before the trip.  Benn added centramatic wheel balancers.  They’re supposed to minimize the vibrations and increase tire life.  I’m going to give them the “banana test” on our next trip.  Yes, banana.  No matter where I store the bananas when we get to our first stop, the bananas look like a gorilla has been playing with them.

I worked on where to store stuff.  These containers look like they fit perfect in the closet.
